Cleankill was called in to carry out a clean-up operation after pigeons found their way into an East Sussex premises that was being used as a cannabis factory.
The owner of the town centre premises was completely unaware that his tenants had large amounts of cannabis growing and had installed heating ducts to provide ideal growing conditions. In the process of turning the premises into a factory, multiple holes were made in the ceilings and walls allowing birds to move easily around. The property was actually registered as a wedding dress repair shop.
It took a team of eight Cleankill staff three weeks to remove all the contaminated furniture and other items before cleaning the interior of the three-story building from top to bottom. It is thought that a window had been left open which allowed the pigeons to enter and set up home.
Cleankill Surveyor Sam Boylett explains: “This was an extremely challenging clear-up. Access was restricted which made removal of all the contaminated items difficult. It is a good example of how a colony of pigeons can quickly take over an unoccupied building and cause huge amounts of damage. We were pleased to help the owner and help to return his property to its former glory.”
